Nestled in a small village called Thirumalai Vaiyavoor [on the way to Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary] near Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu, is Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal Temple (popularly known as Dakshina Tirupati) stands as a beacon of faith, devotion, and divine blessings.
The presiding deity, Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal, is worshipped in a merciful and smiling form, granting prosperity, health, and peace to devotees. The temple also houses Alarmelmangai Thaayar, embodying grace and abundance along with Lord Varaha with Lakshmi on His lap,ย Sri Rama with Sita & Lakshmana,ย Sri Venugopala with Rukmini & Satyabhama, Sri Veera Narthana Hanuman, andย Sri Ramanuja.
๐ฟ Legend & Divine Origin
โ๏ธ This sacred land was once a dense forest where Maharishi Bhrigu performed penance.
โ๏ธ To test Lord Vishnuโs compassion, Bhrigu struck Him on the chest. The Lord, instead of anger, gently pressed the Rishiโs feet and removed the ego from him. Ashamed and enlightened, the sage worshipped here, leading to the Lord appearing as Prasanna (smiling) Venkatesa Perumal.

๐ Sthala Puranam & Historical Significance
๐This kshetra is also revered as Adhi Varaha Kshetra, with shrines for Lord Varaha with Lakshmi on His lap, Sri Rama with Sita & Lakshmana, Sri Venugopala with Rukmini & Satyabhama, and Sri Ramanuja.
๐The temple is believed to be over 1,000 years old, built during the PallavaโChola period.
๐Sri Ramanuja himself worshipped here and called it Vaikundagiri.
๐Hanuman legend: While carrying Sanjeevi Parvatham, Hanuman prayed here. Since he could not place the hill down, Perumal Himself helped, giving the place the name Vaiya-vur (not placed on ground).
๐Tondaiman King Legend: A devotee of Lord Venkateswara built temples here and in Tirupati after receiving divine help in battle. Footprints and chariot wheel marks remain on the rocks.
๐Jyothi Darshan: On Thiruvonam, Perumal appears as a divine Jyothi, a lamp lit by Brahma, which will glow till the end of Kaliyugam.
